Nice to meet you

Hi there! I'm Nico, the author of this site. I've adopted an English name since I'm living abroad, and I find it quite useful. It serves as a nickname when writing a blog, and it’s handy when you need a player name in games.

Nico is also the operator of Bluedog. Let's keep in touch!

Bluedog

I love dogs, so I wanted to choose a name that clearly represents that passion! I decided on "Bluedog" without any twists—just combining my love for dogs, my favorite color blue, and the fact that I’m a software engineer by trade.

I apologize if anyone visits here expecting dog-related content, but I don’t actually cover much about dogs.

Motivation

As a software engineer in my thirties, I felt a growing need to have an outlet for my thoughts and experiences. After putting it off for years, I finally took the plunge and started this blog, something I had always told myself I would do "someday."

I’d often think, "Okay, I’ll start a blog!" But when the time came, I got caught up in details like:

  • What design should my blog have?
  • I want to build it from scratch using a language I've never used before.
  • How should I store the data? How do I save it? ...and so on.

Meanwhile, work kept me busy, and the blog kept getting pushed to the back burner.
I repeated this cycle several times, and here I am—a classic example of getting lost in the details and losing sight of the goal.

It took me a long time (5-6 years) to reach this point, but I’ve finally learned that "minimal design is best" and "there’s no need to reinvent the wheel—use the tools available." That’s how I ended up creating this simple and minimal blog.

I hope to introduce the site structure in another post.

At Bluedog, I'll be sharing my thoughts on daily life, lessons learned, tech experiences, and much more, without sticking to a specific genre.
